My equine series started in Hokkaido, Japan. The opportunity to sit with a powerful group of thoroughbreds, to study their moods, their habits and physical beauty opened up a new world to me. I found the best moments directly after training sessions as they settled back into their stalls. Light beams would catch the steam rolling off their coats and nostrils. These fine Hokkaido race horses observed my presence. I was the stranger outside their daily routine. Some curious, some lofty, some almost affectionate, these impressive steeds would look on with a knowing sense.
