This series has many sources: plucked from Hindu sculptures in Varanasi, a Buddhist temple in Java, ruins at the Parthenon. I am drawn to the historical and mythical ways human and animal forms are recorded. India in particular made an indelible impression upon me. The colours, smells and heat were all overwhelming, inescapable. The extremes of beauty and decay were a constant reminder of the cycle of life.
